Extented play`in kısaltması olan EP`ler daha çok amatör, yeni çıkış yapan grupların tercih ettiği bir yöntem olsa da zaman içinde kendini ispatlamış gruplar da bu kayıt şeklini benimsedi. Bütün bir albümün kaydı hem zaman hem de para gerektirdiği için bazı gruplar çareyi EP`de arıyor.
